I personally watch the subbed anime every week and i enjoy it alot. My friend on the other hand hates the subbed and loves the dubbed and refuses to watch the subbed because he hates the subbed voices for the characters.

I am the exact opposite, i find that the dubbed voices take away from the show and that the voices sound weird and out of place unlike the subbed voices. So i was curious which do you guys prefer?

The subbed voices or the dubbed voices tl;dr which voices do you like better, the subbed or the dubbed. I prefer subbed since I feel the vocal range of the Japanese voices fit the anime better. Also, my brain kinda works on a first come first serve basis, so it prefers what it knows. For instance, I watched DBZ in chinese first, so I hated the English dub, nor could I get used to the original Japanese voices either. For some reason, I think the English vocal range (in dubs) is a bit weak at the moment.

All the voices are kinda dubbed the same way. The gravelly voice, high pitched girls, throaty moody guy, etc. Lots of it just sounds forced than naturally speaking. Although, it could be just huge biases my brain built up, being first come first serve, hehe.

But Naruto's dub is just plain annoying. Dattebayo just doesn't translate all too well, having him say, 'Believe it!' Every other line. I was the same way man, but after watching a decent amount of anime I had to make the switch.

Ever watch dragonballz subbed? It's annoying and everyone sounds like a ten year old girl, but the dialogue is much better.

The transition forces the dialogue to be changed and it is rarely for the better. The biggest reason for my transition from dubbed to subbed was the gap in voice talent. Most, but not all of the dubbed anime I have seen has come off as corny and something I merely dealt with to enjoy the other points of the show. Inflection is lost on most american voice actors for some reason. At the end of the day watch it how you want to watch it, but perhaps attempting to branch out a bit could add to your enjoyment. I'm watching Naruto Shippuden for the first time (on episode 60) and I watch it dub because it allows me to watch many episodes without having to intensely watch while reading subtitles. I know it's not the biggest deal to read subtitles, but when your watching hours, back to back, it makes it more efficient to watch dub imo. No matter what you do though, if you watch dub, there will always be someone out there slamming you for doing it. Just ignore them and watch dub lol.

I like it Dubbed both Shippuden and original Shonen Jump. It’s just better to me. The voice actors are very good and I don’t speak Japanese so there is also that. Maybe one day I will. I have watched both sub and dub and I have to say I enjoyed it most Dub.

I originally watched it that way so maybe that’s why. Junko does great as Naruto and so does Flanagan! I think it’s all great in general because we all get to watch it the way we want to. That’s the beauty of this.
